Glayds Dorothy Bishop Kirkland BAMBERT, SC - Gladys Dorothy Bishop Kirkland, 94, recently of Uni Health Post Acute Care, 439 North St., Bamberg, SC, wife of the late Marion Kirkland, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010, at Uni Health Post Acute Care. Born September 7, 1916, in Ehrhardt, SC, she was the daughter of the late Biddie Carter Bishop and the late Marvin Bishop. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Walterboro, S.C., and a former member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, Ehrhardt, SC. She graduted from Ehrhardt High School. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, especially for other people, and she was always known as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who will be truly missed. Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 17, 2010, in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ehrhardt Road, Ehrhardt, SC, with the Rev. Susan Gilbert officiating. Survivors include one son, Jon Earl Bishop and wife Joanne of Hampton, SC; two daughters, Elizabeth K. Shuler and husband Eric of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Louise K. Mixon of Piedmont, SC; four grandchildren, Lynley Bishop, Melissa Mixon, Marian Shuler Holladay and husband Brian, and Lanier Shuler; four great-grandchildren, Courtney Bishop, Chelsea Bishop, Ashton Mixon, and Lindy Holladay. She was predeceased by one brother, John Lewis Bishop and one grandson, Jon Earl Bishop, Jr. Visitation will be Sunday, October 17, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Cooner Funeral Home Chapel, Bamberg, SC, prior to the graveside service.
