Gladys Handberry Obituary

HANDBERRY, Gladys MARTIN - Mrs. Gladys Duncan Handberry of 5943 Revolutionary Trial, Martin, SC, wife of the late Cordie Oliver Handberry, Sr., passed away Sunday after an extended illness. She was 91. Mrs. Handberry was born July 4, 1915 the daughter of the late George Washington Duncan and Mary Lolita Wall Duncan both of Barnwell County. She was a retired farmer and housewife and a member of Lower Three Runs Baptist Church and former member of Pleasant Mt. Baptist Church. Surviving 1 son: George Allen Handberry Sr. of Martin, 1 daughter: Jeanette (Brantley) Jamison of Blackville, 1 sister: Georgia Almyria Duncan Harley of Mt. Pleasant, 6 grandchildren: Theresa (Curtis Sr.) Dowling, MaryAnn (Steve) Grubbs, David Jamison, Michael (MaryAnne) Jamison, George Allen Handberry Jr. and Troy (Sarah) Jamison. There are 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was predeceased by 1 son: Cordie Oliver Handberry and 2 brothers, Adicus K. Duncan and Joseph H. Duncan. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday afternoon at Lower Three Runs Baptist Church with burial following in the Handberry Cemetery in Martin. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home in Allendale. Rev. Billy Mew and Rev. Fred Orr will be officiating.
