Gladys Bowers Obituary

BOWERS, Gladys Mrs. Gladys Maria Proveaux Bowers, 87, of Brunson, SC, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 25, 2009 at the family's residence. Born November 15, 1921 in Colleton County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Levi Proveaux and Mattie Kinard Proveaux, but was reared and educated in Salem, VA. She was a homemaker and a member of the Brunson Baptist Church where she had taught in the nursery for over 40 years. She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren and all other family members. She is survived by one daughter, Wendy Gail Bowers Stanley of the home; 4 grandchildren, Michael Gerald Stanley of the home and life partner Missy Heles of Beaufort, Chrystal Gayle Stanley DeBruhl and husband Billy of Fairfax, Jennifer Nicole Bowers and Jason Patrick Bowers, all of the home. There are four great-grandchildren: Devin Michael, Drake Andrew and Dade Lawson Stanley, all of Beaufort and Mariah Gayle DeBruhl of Fairfax, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Ralph Howard "Pedro" Bowers and ten brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 2 PM in the Brunson Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. R. P. Hodge. The casket will be placed in the church at 1PM prior to the service.
