Geraldine Wood Obituary

Geraldine Wood CHARLESTON - Geri Wood went home to be with her Lord and Savior, after a courageous battle with ALS. She was 77. Geri was born in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Estelle and Norman Biersbach. She's survived by daughter, Michelle Anderson, husband, Taylor, grandsons, Hampton and Taylor and daughter, Mary Raymond, Leland, grandson, Wells. And also by her sister, Dolores Weikert and brother, Norman Biersbach. Geri's nursing education started at the Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo, NY and on to Group Health Hospital in Seattle Washington School of Anesthesia. She worked as a CRNA for over 40 years, retiring in 2020. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Geri. In her free time, she could be found at her cottage on the Edisto River enjoying quiet mornings, tubing on the river, and evenings filled with laughter and great conversation. It was her Happy Place. She was always welcoming friends both at her Edisto place and her home in Mt. Pleasant, where she would host Bible Studies, Small Christian Singles Group and even weddings. She gave true meaning to "open door" policy. Geri was a founding member of Seacoast Christian Community Church and a faithful steward of Christ, often taking mission trips to Uganda, Kenya, Panama, and Sri Lanka. As beacons to the world, we are not to hide the light and hope within us, but rather be Christ's Light-bearers. This was our Geri, letting His light shine through her. She has touched so many lives through her love of the Lord and will be missed by so many. Geri's funeral service will be held July 18, 2023 at 12:30pm at Seacoast Chapel with a Celebration of Life to follow at the James Island Yacht Club. Geri's favorite flower was Lily Star Gazer Oriental. If your heart is led to donate to fight ALS, please donate to the ALS association who provided Geri her motorized scooter at www.als.org.

This world is truly less bright without the light that was Geri.
Her open heart and open arms, her joy and humor have welcomed so many of us into her home and her friendship.
However much we will miss her, I know she is happy to be home with her Jesus. Lord bless her family with sweet memories and peace.

My husband Jerry did some handyman jobs for Geri over the years. I met Geri through Mary Ann, one of her many dear friends. Geri really did have an open heart & open door. We thank the Lord Jesus for her testimony of love & kindness.

I met Geri in 1992 at Seacoast Church, lived on street 10 years. We walked, talked, played tennis, swam, danced to praise music in her den. We cheered loudly for our daughter´s sports teams at First Baptist. I loved tubing down her river. She took me to my first FA meeting. She loved her LORD Jesus, family, all people, and life. I love her like a sister. I know where she is and look forward to many more adventures with her in heaven!

Gerri was my BFF from the time we were in High School until her death. Even though the miles separated us we always visited and kept in touch. She shared her love for Jesus with me long before I knew Him as my Saviour. I thank her for that.
I know we will meet again and thank the Lord for His gift of our Salvation. We will meet up again my friend. Love and prayers to her family.

I want Ms Geri family to know that she will be missed but God knows best. She was my boss when I was her maid/babysitter in the 80´s. She was my delivery nurse in 1991. My best friend and sister in the Christ. I am so glad of the cherished moments we had throughout the years and so glad i was able to see her in May and talked to her a short while ago by phone.
