Georgianne Burmester Obituary

Georgianne Burmester CHARLESTON - Georgianne Corbin Burmester was born in Charleston, SC on April 1, 1943, and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence D. Burmester, Jr. (Larry) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Georgia was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel J. Corbin, a former Charleston attorney, and Dorothy M. Corbin. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. A proud graduate of the High School of Charleston and Limestone College, Georgia dedicated her career to public service and the community. She worked for the Department of Social Services and the banking industry before transitioning to a successful career as a real estate agent and broker. She ultimately retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Mt. Pleasant. Georgia's passions included sewing and design, gardening, and a profound love of reading. She dearly loved her babies, grandbabies and great-grandbabies and she is survived by her son, Lawrence D. Burmester III (Trey), and his wife, Christi, of Auburndale, FL; her daughter, Dorothy A. Causey of Awendaw, SC; and her cherished grandchildren who all knew her as "Mimi": Seleste Lewis, Meghan and Chase Burmester, and Joshua and Christian Rector. Her great-grandchildren, Adrian, Chloe, and Gavyn (Seleste), Hannah and Paige (Meghan), and Thomas (Joshua), will carry on her legacy. Georgia is also survived by her brother, Dr. Samuel J. Corbin, Jr. of Sumter, SC, and her sister, Susan Corbin Spann of Charleston, SC. The family extends special thanks for all the wonderful care from the staff at Lutheran Hospice. All funeral services will be private.
