George Whetsell Obituary

WHETSELL, George

George Albert Whetsell, 67, entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 24, 2005 at his home on James Island. Born October 6, 1937 in Charleston, SC, he was the son of William Wallace Whetsell and Georgia Melfi Whetsell. Mr. Whetsell was a 1959 summa cum laude graduate of The Citadel and rose to the rank of Major while serving in the US Army. He was a special agent with the US Treasury Department and later went into private business. He will be deeply missed by his wife Juanita Richberg Whetsell, two sons: George Albert Whetsell, Jr. and Lee Andrew Whetsell, both of Charleston; sister: Teresa Pregnall Moore, Charleston; granddaughter Casey Leigh Whetsell, Charleston. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00PM Monday at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St., Charleston. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Folly Beach. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, James Island. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, 900 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Condolences may be sent via www.mcalsiter-smith.com. Visit our guestbook at www.charleston.net/deaths.
