George Stroman Obituary

STROMAN, JR., George George Edward Stroman, Jr., 93, husband of the late Lula Mixson Stroman of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. The relatives and friends of George E. Stroman are invited to attend his Funeral Service in Hibben United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 2:00 o'clock. Burial will follow in New Wappetaw Presbyterian Cemetery, McClellanville, SC at 4:00 o'clock. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock in J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Mr. Stroman was born August 30, 1914, in Orangeburg, SC, son of the late George Edward Stroman, Sr. and Louise Leland Stroman. He spent his formative years in the family house in McClellanville, and served in the area Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, running submarine patrols off Charleston harbor. He retired from Sears Roebuck as a sales associate in sporting goods. He was well known for his fishing expertise and his bountiful vegetable garden. He and Lula were members of Hibben United Methodist Church for over fifty years and were married for 61 years. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, George E. Stroman III and Martha Zierden Stroman; their sons, Zachary L. Stroman and Gabriel F. Stroman of McClellanville, SC; his daughter, Dorothy Stroman, and her daughters, Frances Stroman-Jones and Catherine Stroman-Jones Laboy of Gainesville FL.
