A year has passed since George moved into his heavenly home and he is sorely missed by all who knew him. I consider myself blessed to have had him as my true friend. He was full of wisdom that he used to mentor many of us. God's Speed my friend.

It´s difficult to think that it has been a year since George´s passing into Glory! I remember his family often in prayer for peace and comfort in the knowledge that George is in the very presence of God and with family and friends that have gone before him. George and Anne and I share two beautiful granddaughters, Anna Blake and Samantha, and I remember how passionately he loved them and all of his family!! He is sorely missed!

I had the honor of calling George Shaver my next door neighbor for the majority of my childhood. His daughter, Ashley and I were the same age and attended school together. When you are that age, you don't really understand or have a deep understanding of the people around you like you have when you become an adult. As a child, I just knew that George was always joyful, fun to be around, caring for not only his family but his close neighbors. All that was easy to see.
It wasn't until later in life on the few occasions when our families would see each other at weddings or trips back to Virginia Beach, that I really started to see how special of a person George was. At the end of the night on one of those trips back to VB, George pulled me aside (I was probably in my late 20's) to give me some words of wisdom and life. They were four simple words that have stuck with me since then and will for the rest of my life. They were: FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS, FUN.
Four simple words that George lived his live by and shared with all those he touched.
My heart breaks for Anne, Ashley, Blake and the rest of the family and friends. Rest in peace George. Thank you for being a man to admire.

Love,
Wesley McIntyre

George was one of my fondest and most unique friends. We always enjoyed sharing time with him and Anne. He was easy to be around and kept everyone laughing. I always enjoyed how he would stretch out a word when he spoke. George took his last step on this earth doing something he had a dislike yet a passion for (running) but his spirit continued running straight into heaven. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. God's speed my dear friend.

George was a wonderful friend and neighbor, and we were blessed to share many good times together with him and his wife, Anne. We will always remember how he made us laugh - always enjoying his company. George spoke of his priorities in life: Faith, Family, Friends, Fun. He had it right! We will see you again, George, in your new home. May God bless his family and be comforted with this truth.

George had a light about him...a spark that lit up any room in which he was present. His smile, stance, and quick wit made anyone that came into contact with him feel right at ease. His deep love and admiration for Anne was always evident. He is not gone in our hearts and minds, only departed for his heavenly reward promised by our Lord and Savior. I hope his entire family is comforted knowing they will see him again in due time. Godspeed, George. It was a pleasure to be in your company and call you a friend.
