Uncle George was a true gift to all that had the good fortune of knowing him. He was kind, funny, caring, decent and above all, honest. People always knew where they stood with Uncle George; good, bad or otherwise.
Life threw many obstacles at him, but he found success more times than not, which probably shocked anyone that ever doubted him.
The lessons I learned from Uncle George helped shape me into a more understanding and empathetic adult, one that is very aware and appreciative of how fortunate I am. The world could use more people with the character and resolve of George Makridakis.

Uncle George,
Thank you for benevolence, and for tolerating my youth.
And thank you for teaching me to see beyond myself.
You are remembered, and you are missed.
All Love...

George was such a sweet man, we are so sorry to hear of his passing. Both Richard and I talked to him often at work, he loved to share stories and talk about everything you could think of, what a memory he had! He remembered my birthday every year, brought me a card, shared his Christmas decorations, and could even tell my twin and I apart from a distance...not many can! God rest his soul, he will be missed.

Very sad to hear of George's passing. He was one of the first people I met when I began work as a co-op student at NAVELEX back in 1985. Through the years he and I enjoyed many conversations covering a wide variety of topics, from presidential elections to Miley Cyrus. One thing I loved about George was that he would say exactly what was on his mind in very clear terms. His opinions where often exactly what everyone else was thinking but no one had the gumption or courage to say. Every organization needs someone like that. Our work family and lives would have been less rich without him. Godspeed old friend.
