Once a Marine, Always a Marine.
Another Marine
April 30, 2019
Whenever I become aware that another Marine has answered his last muster, I am reminded by words in our Marines' Hymn that tells us, the streets of Heaven are guarded by United States Marines. Stack arms and rest your pack, Marine, and then take your post. You still have important work to do. Semper Fi, and carry on.

To Captain Rock.....you always made me laugh and smile. We have had such great times through the years in Maryland, the Eastern Shore, and Charleston. Such happy memories watching our families grow. But I know you are now fishing somewhere on the Bay and telling tall tales with your brother, your nephews, Mike and Chris, John Cockey and Bob Langenfelter. I can hear the laughter. Smooth seas, George. We love you dearly.

Impossible to remember you without a smile - wonderfully happy times. Thank you for your service, and thank you for crossing our paths. Bill and I always enjoyed being with you.

GEORGE, my spell correct on my iPhone capitalizes your name every time I write it. Not sure why...something tells me that you're still up to your funny business.
When I came to see you 2 weeks ago at the VA, I never expected that you would make me laugh so hard! I couldn't have asked for a better goodbye from you. Your stories & your absolute honesty about how you see people & life were just....brilliant. I wonder if you knew how funny you were.
We both had Cowboy kitties that meant the world to us, & I think when your Cowboy went away so did a big chunk of your heart (chunky, like Cowboy was), & you told me that. I hope that sassy boy is laying next to you now.
You brought a gazillion laughs to me & Jason, & you will always be loved & cherished & thank you for being a part of our lives.
