George Holladay Obituary

George Lee Holladay, affectionately known as "Boby" by his many friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Born on December 18, 1938, in Summerville, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Allen and Ellen Holladay. Boby proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Ulm, Germany, where he formed lifelong memories and friendships. Following his service, he dedicated many years to his work as a skilled mechanic at Carolina Shipping Company. After retiring from that position, he continued his career at Southeast Industrial Company, where he retired once more, this time as a parts manager. For over 60 years, Boby shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Lorraine Holladay. Together, they built a life rooted in family, faith, and simple joys. He especially cherished time spent with his loved ones; whether he was casting a line in search of brim, hosting fish fries, or preparing his famous Frogmore stew, Boby brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. His legacy is one of hard work, quiet strength, and the joy of sharing life's everyday pleasures with those he loved. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Holladay; his son, Christen Lee Holladay; his grandchildren: Coby Scott Holladay and Kenneth Lee Holladay; his great granddaughter, Angel Shane Holladay; his brother, Larry Holladay; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Shane Holladay; as well as 10 beloved siblings.
