George Hiers Obituary

HIERS, George WALTERBORO - Mr. George Terry Hiers, 66, of 401 Ravenwood Road, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Trident Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 3 o'clock, Saturday, July 9, 2005, in Edgewood Baptist Church, directed by The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hiers was born August 17, 1938, and was a son of the late G. Felder Hiers, Jr., and Ruth Virginia Simmons Hiers. He was a retired Unit Administrator from the South Carolina National Guard, where he served for 41 years in Company C, 1st Battalion, 118th Infantry. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and trustee. He was also a member of Unity Lodge #55. Surviving are: his wife of 44 years, Pat O'Quinn Hiers of Walterboro; children, Terry Hiers and his wife Teresa of Harleyville and Becky Hiers Hill and her husband Tommy of Walterboro; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hill, Aubrey Hill, and Hannah Hiers; and brother, Thomas Hiers of Walterboro. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro, SC 29488. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6 until 8 at THE BRICE W.
