George Galante Obituary

George L. Galante MT. PLEASANT - George L. Galante, 89, died peacefully on July 20, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, June 21, 1936, to George and Katherine Galante. George attended Hofstra University before transferring to the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, earning a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. He went on to receive a Master of Science in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and was a member of the American Society of Engineers. George enjoyed a 30 year career with the General Electric Company in both the U.S. and abroad. Retiring at age 55, he began his own consulting company, Design Productivity. George is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Munson Galante, his daughter, Carolyn Galante, his grandson, Zachary Marti (Chandra), his brother, Robert Galante (Joan), a niece, and nephews. As per a letter to his wife, written in 1984, he asked that there be no funeral, and services will be private. The family is grateful for the dedicated care that George received at Roper Saint Francis Hospital. The family asks if anyone wishes to remember George, please do so through Respite Care Charleston, the organization that provided years of fellowship and understanding during his journey with Alzheimer's dementia.
