George Fontaine Obituary

George Cosby Fontaine, Jr. GEORGETOWN - George Cosby Fontaine, Jr., 81, died July 24, 2009, in DeBordieux Colony, Georgetown, South Carolina. He was the son of the late George and Margaret Dineen Fontaine of Lookout Mountain, TN. He was raised on Lookout Mountain and was a graduate of Baylor School where he excelled in athletics. He later attended the University of Virginia and the University of Chattanooga. He was a decorated combat veteran of the Korean War. George, known as "Feegie" to his multitude of friends, could best be described as one of the world's most colorful characters. His gift of gab and quick humor entertained many. He was known as the master of one-liners. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Hutcheson Fontaine of Georgetown, SC, his sister, Mrs. Joseph H. McGinness of Lookout Mtn., TN and a grandson, John Thomas Fontaine. Survivors include sons George and Celia Fontaine, Jack and Nancy Fontaine, Peter and Laura Fontaine, daughter Trink and Raz Petrea, grandchildren, George, Ryan, Cartter, Harris, Elizabeth, Hutch, and Candler Fontaine. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Korean War Project, PO Box 180190, Dallas, TX 75218-0190. George-
I was sorry to hear about your dad. I only met him once, but it was a memorable occasion. He treated me like one of his buddies and slapped me on the back so hard I nearly spit my teeth out. Please relay my condolences to the rest of your family. I wish you and yours all the best.
