George Finkelstein Obituary

George Ellison Finkelstein TAYLORS, SC - George Ellison Finkelstein, 66, died at home on April 8 following a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was born in Orangeburg, SC on May 1, 1947, a son of Lester and Grace Finkelstein, also of Orangeburg. George is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 44 years, Elayne Rembert Finkelstein of Taylors. He is also survived by two daughters, Alice Finkelstein Allen and Amy Elayne Finkelstein, his two sons-in-law, Frankie Allen and Bradley Decker; and his grandsons, "Main Man" Hayne and "Little Lyle". In addition, he is survived by a sister, Alice Lynn Finkelstein; a brother, Lester Inman Finkelstein, Jr., both from the Charleston area; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews who were a special part of his life. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2600 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, SC. A private gathering for the family will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the excellent doctors and nurses at St. Francis Hospital, Greenville Hospital System and the Cancer Centers of The Carolinas for their caring support.
