George Ege Obituary

George B. Ege, 75, of Brookhaven, died Sunday at Taylor Hospice House.

Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late John and Mildred Ege.

He worked in Springfield School District as an English teacher for 30 years until his retirement, when he worked part-time for T A Title Insurance Co., Media, for 16 years as a courier.

He served three years in the Army in Okinawa.

Devoted to his home, he loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was a member of the National Education Association of Pennsylvania and Chester Masonic Lodge 236 F&AM. He served as an assistant coach of football and baseball at Springfield High School.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ege; a grandchild, Krystal Kennan.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ann Hoover Ege; four daughters, Patricia Schafer and her husband, James, Springfield, Barbara Garvey and her husband, James, Brookhaven, Colleen VanBilliard and her husband, David, Fleetwood, and Sandra Emery and her husband, Matthew, Brookhaven; seven grandchildren, Bryan, Bridget, Bobby, Billy, Sarah, Jeremy and Brooke.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Minshall-Shropshire-Bleyer Funeral Home, Middletown, Route 352 and Knowlton Roads, Middletown Township, Media. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
