George, I am so sorry I wasnt in town when God came to take you home.
I am glad that we had some great chats about life.
Thank you for loving our flag that flys in our round-a-about. Thank you for giving her light so she would shine in the darkness of night. Thank you for letting me know that you have stored away another flag and another light in case something happens.
I will pray for your family in their grief of losing you.
I will do my best to her fixed again. I am not sure who righted her this time when the wind took her down. I was not here and did not know she was down. I am working on trying to get her back on her pole so she will let this community know we love her.

Sadness crept into my spirit upon learning of George's passing. Ours was a quick friendship begun nearly seven years ago with me showing up at front beach Post. We shook hands and did so upon every succeeding meeting. Our conversations knew no limits talking sports, politics, history who's and what's and Huguenots. He shared words of caution for me settling in the low country and proved right time after time. He remind me of actor Dennis Hopper with his great come back hair and look as well. Always quick to pay a compliment where due and advice for improvement. George had character, form and substance. These last months we visited and happen chance meetings never a complaint from this man! This past Sunday 02/24 with visiting son in tow we took in the beautiful Magnolia Cemetery...was that irony, coincidence, fate no George good bye to a new friend. Peace he would sign off at the end of communications. Eternal Peace Dear George.

George lit up any room that he entered. A great man and a beautiful soul. I had the pleasure to see him recently. Always special to get a George hug and a friendly smile. Thank you George for sharing grace, dignity, courage and your service. So many will miss you on the Island and beyond. May every flag fly as strongly as you lived. My thoughts and prayers to the family.
