Gay Pardee Obituary

Gay Bishop Pardee FOLLY BEACH - Anna Gay Bishop Pardee, 68, daughter of the late Edward Marshall (Shack) Bishop and Frances Copeland Bishop, died Dec. 8, 2010, at Roper St. Francis Hospital. Mrs. Pardee was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Athens, Ga. but her family moved to Folly Beach when she was two months old, and she lived there most of her life. She graduated James Island High School in 1960. She was the retired co-owner and office manager of Pardee Refrigeration, a heating and air conditioning company. She was a former member and past president of Folly Beach Exchangettes, James Island Optimist Auxiliary and Charleston Federal of Women's Clubs. She was a volunteer substitute teacher in James Island schools. Mrs. Pardee was a very active member of Folly Beach United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served in several lay positions. Her faith was her strength, her heart as deep as the ocean she so loved, and her soul the river that runs to it. Her greatest joys were shrimping, crabbing and fishing in the creeks behind Folly Beach, joys she shared with many. She was an accomplished gardener and wonderful cook. She was always right and never lost an argument. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Barbara Bishop and family; a daughter, Marsha Gay Pardee; and two grandchildren, John L. Pardee IV and Christina Nicole Pardee. She was preceded in death by her son, John L. Pardee III, in 1994. She was also mother, sister, granny and friend to many others who have known her. She will always be in our hearts. Her memorial service will be held at Folly Beach United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 when we will celebrate her life on the date of her birth. Her burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Folly Beach United Methodist Church Gay Pardee Prayer Garden. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/ deaths

Sadly miss this lady from the bottom of my heart as she was always there for me and I am sure many others ! I miss our little talks at her kitchen table and all the advice and support she gave me through some very troubling times ! Although many years have past I still think of your love and compassion you had for both me and many others ! You were honestly one of my favorite people and you will always be in my thoughts and memories !

I was saddened to hear of Gay's passing. I saw her last at Dixie's funeral and she was weak then. She had just gotten out of the hospital. I know she suffered a long time with her illness and now she is suffering no more. That doesn't stop us from wanting our loved ones to stay with us a little longer. I missed the memorial service, but I was there in my heart. All us old Folly Beach kids have a bonding that has kept us close all these years. Her laugh is what I will remember most...it was infectious...I will remember her kindness when my loved ones passed away. She was a great lady...Maebelle Barnett Bazzel
