Gary Stone Obituary

Gary Donald Stone, 69, of Pleasant Drive, Warren, Pa., passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010 while vacationing in Wisconsin. Gary was born March 14, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wis. the son of the late Donald and Laurena Kline Stone. He attended the Mayville Wisconsin High School and then moved here from Chicago in 1976 to become the manager of Warren Concrete Products. His love of working with concrete took him to Egypt for three and a half years, working for Ford Aerospace and Communications. When he returned to the U.S., he started his own business, Stone Concrete Pumping Service. He owned and operated the business for twenty-five years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Gary was well respected among his customers and friends. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He often went out of his way to help other people. Gary loved electronics and watching movies. Gary was a loving, caring man who enjoyed spoiling his wife Becky, and showing her the world. They took several cruises to the Islands of the Caribbean. They also spent time in Egypt and traveled across the United States, including a three week vacation in Hawaii. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by, his wife Becky Saunders Stone, whom he married in 1996; two daughters, Audrey Stone, Russell, Pa., and Patti Henderson and her husband, Rick, Racine, Wis.; a son, Tim Stone, Springfield, Va.; three sisters, Karen Compton and her husband, Bud, Heartland, Wis., Gail Streich and her husband, John, Great Falls, Mont., and Cindy Stone, Beaver Dam, Wis.; three stepsons, Jeff Perkins and his wife, Tammy, Tiona, Jody Rowland and his wife, Amanda, and Rod Rowland and his wife, Lacey, both of Pittsfield; a stepdaughter, Dawn Lindstrom and her husband, Jim, Spring Creek, four grandchildren, sixteen step grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a great long-time friend, Vallie Papalia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of twenty six years, Nancy Stone. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Warren, with Dr. Jeffrey Sterling, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St., Warren, PA. 16365

We will certainly miss Gary.He was a pleasure to work with. Gary gave us a challenge with all of his high pressure pumper trucks and his metric needs.Gary always worn a warm smile and had a positive attitude. Thanks Gary!
