Gary Eugene Huckaby N. CHARLESTON - Gary E. Huckaby departed this world peacefully Friday, October 8, 2021. Gary was born May 25, 1943 in Griffin, Georgia. Following his graduation from Griffin High School in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, in which he served honorably for 21 years. He earned his Associate's Degree in Computer Science and, following his Air Force retirement, Gary went to work for the Department of Defense at Joint Base Charleston.He served 30 years before retiring in 2016.Gary was predeceased by his parents, Rev. And Mrs. Allen Huckaby of Griffin, Georgia, and his brother, Larry Huckaby of Griffin, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Joy; daughter, Selena Alvar and her husband, Nestor of San Angelo, TX; daughter, Paula Kelly and her husband, Gerald of St. George, SC; his 3 grandsons, Quaid Alvar (San Angelo, TX), Noah and Caden Wright (St. George, SC); and his sister, Brenda Huckaby of Griffin, Georgia. He also leaves behind many extended family and friends that he loved dearly. Gary loved his family and friends above all else. His grandsons were the light of his life and he was so proud of them. He also loved to laugh and make others laugh. He could keep the straightest face and you would never know if he was serious or joking. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed keeping everyone, especially his golfing buddies, laughing. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
