Last year, Wednesday sailing practices were always the highlight of my week. Without a doubt, James Island and First Baptist sailors would arrive at the docks around the same time and begin rigging the fleet of 420s. Plenty of times, I would get frustrated because I couldn't hoist the main sail alone, or angered because I couldn't tie a certain knot correctly. Despite me being on another team, whenever Dillon saw me in my personal demise, he would run over to help. We would then boad our boats and head to the harbor so we could all race against eachother, shouting silly remarks, making faces and booing when we defeated the other team in our pseudo-regattas. I'll never forget Dillon, Costas on and smiling towards the sun. I'm sure that's how he'd like to be seen, and God sees him, sailing into Heaven...

We are deeply sorry for your loss. Dillon was a beautiful spirit that will always be remembered by all of his friends at FBS. May God comfort you and give you strength. Praying for each of you.

I have been fortunate to witness just how much his life touched the hearts and impacted so many youth at First Baptist School. I know because I watched more than 20 students gather at my house on Monday to honor and remember him by making posters for the school and painting the boat on Folly Road. As friends of Cheryl's, we've heard so many fond stories and seen lots of pictures of your family.
