Marcia- While we didnt know Fred, I was so impacted by the mention of his love for his dogs 'Buddy' & Katie" - I knew then that he was some incredible guy with compassion and love for Gods creatures. Then I read how much he loved riding horses - a true love of mine, but one I gave up over 30 years ago, and with my founding of Pet Helpers Rescue Shelter here in Chas (78) and the mission I have been on ever since to save, shelter, and readopt homeless & abandoned animals and work to stop petoverpopulation, I knew my horse riding days were over! Your Fred sounds like one incredible guy and we are so very sorry to hear about the horrible accident and your loss.
I can only imagine your pain and and the 'why' - Only God knows but that is no comfort, I am sure, right now. Please know that others care and are praying for you. For sure, the world is a sadder place without him, for a man with compassion for animals as well as his love for you, I am sure, was a very special person. With deepest sympathy, Carol Linville

Dear Marcia -
I never had the pleasure to meet you as I haven't seen Fred since the building of The Anchorage Inn in Charleston over ten years ago. Fred was the foreman for NMB Construction at the time and the Inn could never have opened without him. He also helped me learn things I never could have learned on my own in a business dicated by men at the time.
I remember him fondly as a hard worker, an honest, humorous man, he laughed often at the good and bad, and was someone who seemed to have found himself at that time.
I remember he bought a horse or two and spent his time off riding them on Johns Island. At the time he was very excited about it. Every Monday he would smile talkng about his weekend in paradise riding his horse. He seemed very happy for the first time in a long time and I hope you spent happy years together.
Again, I never saw him again after the construction was completed, so all of this is old information, but please know I was very sad to hear from long distance about his sudden death and know you and your families must be so sad.
Just know that he had an impact on both me and my mother, who is still in Charleston and instantly after all these years recognized his name in the news and notified me. My heart goes out to you and I hope you can find the strength to overcome your tragic loss.
Just know both Mom (Liz Tucker) and I have Fred, you and your families in our prayers.
Fred was a good guy - you were blessed.
Deepest sympathies,
Elizabeth Tucker
