Fred Johns Obituary

Fred J. Johns EUTAWVILLE, SC - Mr. Fred James Johns, 84, of Eutawville, widower of Joyce Johnson Johns, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at his home. A funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with Rev. Tom Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be at noon on Monday in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, GA. Mr. Johns was born in McPherson, Kan., a son of the late Fred B. Johns and Edith Mae Summy Johns. He was a Navy veteran and was a retired foreman from Martin-Marietta. Mr. Johns was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany and was preceded in death by two children, Nell Buxton and Fred J. Johns, Jr. Surviving are daughters, Mary Jo Smith and Annie Laura Johnson, both of Eutawville; sisters, Florian Fisher of Greenwood, Vivian Jones of Eutawville, and Lois Bingham of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. this Saturday afternoon at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill.
