Franklin Vansant Obituary

VANSANT, Franklin SANTEE - Mr. Franklin Goldey Vansant, 85, of 9 Thomas Walter Circle, Santee, died Sunday morning, July 3, 2005, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday morning, July 9, 2005, in the Elloree United Methodist Church with Reverend Fred Davis officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church social hall. Mr. Vansant was born September 27, 1919, in Richardson Park, Delaware, and was a son of the late Corwin Paul Vansant and Mary Lynam Vansant. He served his country in the United States Army-Air Force as a B17 Bomber Pilot during World War II and was decorated with several medals during his time of duty. He was the retired owner of Alcyon Sales in Pitman, New Jersey. Mr. and Mrs. Vansant resided in Homosassa, Florida, for 15 years before moving their residence to Santee in 2000. They were members of Elloree United Methodist Church and he was a Mason holding membership in the Pitman Lodge No. 197. He will be remembered for his love of wood crafting. Surviving are: his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Ruth Mitchell Vansant; a son, Franklin Steven Vansant and his wife Kay of Harrington, Delaware; a daughter, Sally Vansant Williams and her husband Larry of Rum Gully, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Michel Vansant and Michael Williams; one great-grandchild, Carter Matthew Vansant; a step-granddaughter, Krista Wohlever; and a step-great-grandson, Chase Joseph Wohlever. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Ranch Hope, Post Office Box 325, Alloway, New Jersey 08001. Arrangements by: THE BRICE W.
