Frank Waters, Sr. ORANGEBURG, SC - Frank Waters, Sr., 88, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, husband of Inger Myrdal Waters, passed on Friday, October 21, 2016, at his home. There will be a memorial service followed by a reception 3 p.m. Sunday, October 23rd, at Orangeburg Lutheran Church. Born in Haines City, Florida to the late Jesse Dasher Waters and Ruth Alma Lee, Frank grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, where his father was the manager of the King Street A & P grocery. He attended the city's schools, including Porter Military, and made many life-long friends. At the onset of the Korean War, he joined the U.S. Navy. Frank served as a sailor on several ships, including the USS Indiana. While in Seattle, Frank met the love of his life, Inger. They married and moved back to Charleston. There the family grew, first Denise, then Frank, Jr. The family would move to Elloree, South Carolina were Frank would own a Piggly Wiggly grocery store. However, it was the Piggly Wiggly on Russell Street that brought him to Orangeburg. He would do business at this location for more than fifty years, building friendships with everyone that came through his door. The family grew, too, with the addition of sons Gregg and Brad. Orangeburg became a true home for Frank and his family. He became a member of Orangeburg Lutheran Church and a loyal Mason. He also became an avid golfer. He made many wonderful days with his friends on the links, displaying an amazing balance of luck and skill. He enjoyed every round he played. Frank leaves behind his wife, Inger of the home; his two sisters, Ouida and Peggy. Missing him will be his children, Denise Bauld and her husband Greg of Pendleton, South Carolina, Frank Waters, Jr. and Gregg Waters and his wife Michelle, all of Orangeburg, and Brad Waters of Simpsonville, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, and three great-grands. He is predeceased by his brothers, Rollie, Ralph, and Stewart, and his sisters, Elizabeth and Sara. We are grateful for the many ways he touched our lives with humor and kindness. We look forward to the day we will all be re-united. The family thanks Grove Park Hospice and Carolyn Wooley for their thoughtful care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orangeburg Lutheran Church, 610 Ellis Avenue, Orangeburg, South Carolina 29115. Online condolences may be expressed at
