Robert Volland Obituary

Robert Volland Robert Duane Volland was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 25, 1922 and died at home on October 5, 2010 in Long Beach where he was a resident for 84 years. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. After the war he married Abbie Jane Scott and fathered three lovely and clever children. When Abbie, wife of 33 years died, he remarried Shirley Benson, his high school friend, adding another 18 years to his married life. All the while he brought great pleasure to many a musician and dancer with his piano playing. He loved big dance music and played in many of them from San Diego to Santa Barbara. He is survived by his children; daughter-in-law; six-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Service will be held at Heritage Mortuary, 17712 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach on Friday, November 12 at 2:00 p.m.

Condolences to Bob's family. He and Abbie attended our church and were good friends with my parents and me - Dorothy and Richard Berry.

He was indeed a wonderful musician. May memories sustain you.
