Frank Simmons Obituary

Frank Marshall Simmons LADSON - Frank Marshall Simmons, 71, of Ladson, S.C., husband of Nancy Shaw Simmons, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of April 13, 2011. Frank was born on May 5, 1939, in Charlotte, N.C., the oldest son of John Percy Simmons and Ruby O'Dell Simmons. Frank served faithfully in the United States Air Force. He retired as a dispatcher from Overnite Transportation Co. after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a loyal member of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. He was a member of Berkeley Seniors and of the Golden Ear Club. A loving husband, father and friend, Frank will be missed by all. Surviving in addition to his devoted wife of 54 years, are four children: Larry Simmons and his wife, Pam, of Ladson; Christie Daniel and her husband, Gerald, of Ladson; Mark Simmons and his wife, Kathy, of Summerville; Pamela DeBoard and her husband, John, of Goose Creek; siblings - Valerie Callender of St. Stephen; Joanne Stanley and her husband, Richard, of Macedonia; Gloria Litchfield and her husband, James, of Macedonia; Betty Jean Bullard and her husband, Kenny, of North Charleston and Shirley Michener and her husband, Joe, of Bonneau. Frank leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Stephanie, Kenneth, Joshua and his wife, Kim; Bradley; Melodie; Kathryn; Michael; Justin; Sierrah; Katie; and Jeffrey. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Percy Simmons and his great-granddaughter, Arabella Grace Simmons. His funeral service will be held in The Chapel of the Holy Spirit, 526 College Park Road, Ladson, on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel on Friday evening, April 15, between 6 and 8 o'clock. Mr. Frank was such a kind and loving man that I am blessed to have gotten to meet several times before and after Kim and Josh were married. I want to extend my most heartfelt condolences to you all for your loss. I know that God is embracing Mr. Frank right now and that he is also embracing the family during this difficult time.
