Frank McKeown Obituary

MCKEOWN, Frank Frank Moore McKeown, 69, of Tampa, Fla., and formerly of Interlachen, Fla., died December 20, 2004, at his home. A native of Coal Fork, W.Va., he had resided in Tampa for the past 2 weeks moving there from Texas where he had lived for eight months. Prior to moving to Texas, he had resided in Interlachen from 1995 till earlier this year. Mr. McKeown was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam. He was a merchant marine where he had worked as a mechanical engineer and a welder. In the mid-1960's, he had served as a police officer for the city of Palatka under Chief Zack Hunsuckle. He had also been a member of the First Baptist Church of Welaka. A loving father and son, Frank was a devout American with "a heart as big as America." He is survived by his daughter, Sarah McKeown of Tampa, his mother, Sarah Simmons of Charleston, W.Va., a brother Loenard D. McKeown of Houston, Texas, two cousins, LaRue "Rudy Mae" Greathouse and John William White, both of Palatka and Mary Berry of Owensboro, Ky., his special friends, Debra Henry of Interlachen and Bobby and Barbara Harrison of Livingston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice. No services are scheduled.
