Frank Ferrell Obituary


FERRELL, Frank WALTERBORO Mr. Gary Franklin Ferrell, 77, of 69 Gary Court, died Wednesday, May 02, 2007, at Colleton Medical Center. Graveside funeral services with full Military Honors will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, May 5, 2007 in Glendale Memorial Cemetery. Frank was born July 21, 1929 in Chester, SC and was the son of the late Marshall Levi Ferrell and Onnie Holder Ferrell McNinch. Frank attended John de la Howe School in McCormick, SC for ten years and graduated from Chester High School in Chester, SC. After graduating in 1949, Frank chose to serve in the United States Marines. In 1971, after 20 years of honorable service, including multiple tours in Vietnam, he retired as a Gunnery Sergeant. Following his retirement, he worked briefly as a City of Walterboro Police Officer and retired in 1980 from the Walterboro Post Office. In 1981, he received a degree as a Master Clock Repairer from Orangeburg Technical College and shortly thereafter opened Colleton Clock Repair Service. To all of the grands, Frank will forever remain, King Pappy Frank the First. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carolyn Joyce Godley Ferrell, whom he always referred to as Lady ; four children, Becky Marie Ferrell Pierce and her husband James of Marietta, SC, Franklin Randolph Randy Ferrell and his wife Mary of Independence, VA, Tony M. Ferrell and his wife Diane of Sebring, FL, and Denny Joseph Ferrell and his wife Elizabeth of Walterboro; two granddaughters, Christy and Julie Ferrell of Walterboro; two step granddaughters, Nicole McClelland of Austin, TX and Andrea Flowers and her husband Michael of Avon Park, FL; three step great-grandchildren, Connor McClelland of Austin, TX, and Hope and Olivia Flowers of Avon Park, FL; and a multitude of other family and friends. Frank was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcell Ferrell and Margaret Ferrell Keihl.
