Mr. Stack was my favorite teacher. Although I didn't know it at the time, his Consumer Math class and his guidance prepared me to be the person I became. Knowing that I would not attend college he directed me to the Coast Guard where I learned a trade. I was able to use what I learned in his class and the military to set up a successful business and apply it to every day life. I feel that I've had a successful life as well as other classmates because of him.

Mr. Stack, FT was the best. If you were lucky enough to take his Consumers Math Class he taught you how to handle your banking affairs, how to read a contract, how to do your basic income tax return, how to manage your money and most of all the things pertaining to your finances that you will use through your life. FT influenced me along with Roland Holloway to enlist in the US Coast Guard which was
the best thing I did. He was gentlemen and made his class fun and interesting which made me look forward to attending everyday. Our class was made up of all seniors and when we graduated we were ready to tackle life’s finances.
Thank you FT for the honor of being one of your friends and students.

Remembering you today, with gratitude that you were one of my teachers. I will never forget coming up to your desk with a question, which I did many times, and you would show me that I was capable of answering it myself. It was a tremendous gift. Thank you, Mr. Stack.

Funny to receive this today as I just had a mini reunion with two classmates from HMHS Class of 1963. Skip Coleman and his wife Marylo & Roland Holloway and his wife Claire. Skip, Roland & I had FT's class and we were talking about how much we learned from him. That was last Thursday, 2-22-19. Thank you F.T. You were the Best.

What can be said that hasn't already, F.T., you were One-Of-A-Kind. And Always an Inspiration!
One can only hope HMHS can find another, even if he's only half as fine a Gentleman/Teacher as F.T was!
RIP, Lt.Cmdr. Stack You will be sorely missed!

Mr. Stack was the best math teacher I ever had. It is his influence that lead me to college and gave me such a strong math background. I can see his beautiful face and hear his voice urging us to "factor happily!" I am glad that he had such a full life and send my sympathy to the family.

I have to echo the thoughts of many others that Mr. Stack was a great math teacher. I chuckled when I read "factor happily" as I can picture him saying that as if it was yesterday. He and Mr. Smith in the math department influenced my decision to become an educator. I spent 35 years as teacher, principal, and HR administrator. My prayers to the family during this difficult time. I'm sure he will be missed by many!

Mr. Stack was the BEST. I learned more in Consumers Math than any other class in HMHS. His quote: "The difference between success and failure is life is your ability to save money". Cheers to his Military service too.

Why do we remember Mr Stack so well? Because he was larger than life. He was real. For some of us he was our first encounter with "real men". He was justice with growl and raised voice, his pointed finger stabbing the air while he offered opinions. He was an enchanting story teller and what we encountered in most stories was wisdom and reason. Reason as we listened to him coax and cajole some poor guy to return to the fold who had figuratively gone off the tracks. Wisdom as he oft pointed out the folly of our actions. He was mercy with his time after class: "Come see me after class, after class I'll explain it to you better". He was alive.... he taught life lessons.....vibrant.... street smart...the equal of any person...and oh yes: tough. And by and large we paid attention and grew and matured. Yes, we remember him, because ultimately he was blessing.

Mr Stack was my favorite teacher and I am sorry to see him gone, but I'm also happy in knowing he lived a rich life. His teaching style was one that I admire and try to emulate when I have the chance. Mr Stack's most memorable saying? "ROTCAF!" Rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed.

So sorry for your loss. Mr. Stack has so far been my favorite teacher in life (60+ years!). Because of him, I not only excelled in math but came away with a sense of competence as a person. Never boring, always kind. He will be missed.

One of my favorite teachers. He used to teach a course called Consumer Math which is still one of the most useful courses I have ever taken, learning about mortgages, car loans, etc. I can also recall classroom debates about insurance companies turning down claims, and his standard reply (in faux British accent) "Let's look at the schedule" with the word "schedule" drawn out to 3 syllables. A very funny and memorable teacher, "F. T.", as his annual ad in the yearbook referred to himself, will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Stack, my math teacher in the late 1970's! He was so fun, making math much more tolerable. I really enjoyed him. He famously did pig latin with our names, so I'll sign off as, Ycnan
