Francis J. "Frank" O'Rourke, BHS 1950. Posted 1/1/2005.
January 1, 2025
Fran and I became acquainted in Christian doctrine classes at St. Francis parish during grammar school, became the closest of friends from our high school days at BHS and remained close for several years more thru our attendances at different law schools, Fran at Cambridge and me in Washington. DC where I worked evenings as a US Capitol Police officer. I well remember the day he piloted me in a creaking elevator to Mintz Levin's offices the summer he joined it. I retired from active law practice several years ago but am using my law degree every day: monnetmadison.org
Fran never sought limelight but always wanted to make a difference and without doubt he did. I well remember him piloting me in a creaky elevator to M.L.'s offices on a summer night right after he'd joined it. He and Ada Harvey were tops in our BHS class. She died a few weeks after our fiftieth reunion. I ran into him months later at a party at the British Consul General Boston's residence soon thereafter and told him of Ava's death. He was shocked and grateful to me for informing him. Few people knew of his friendship and activities with President Jimmy Carter from the early days of the President's campaign. I am quite saddened to learn of Fran's departure. God rest his soul.
