Francis Mackie Obituary

MACKIE, Francis Lt Col Francis Myers Mutt Mackie, USAF Ret., 85, of Summerville, husband of Vaune Rowe Mackie died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Summerville Medical Center. Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 18, 2006 at 1 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be held in Mackie Family Cemetery, Yadkinville, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Yadkin Christian Ministries, PO Box 204, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Mr. Mackie was born June 14, 1921 in Yadkinville, North Carolina, son of the late Milas Wilson Mackie and Martha Lee Myers Mackie. He was a graduate of schools in Pennsylvania and Wake Forest College in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in World War II, Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. George Episcopal Church, Summerville. Survivors including his wife are: son, Ret. Major Francis Myers Mackie, Jr. of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Melissa Rowe Mackie of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Michael Ward Mackie of Wilmington, NC; sister, Kate Allen of Weldon, NC. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Dr. George Mackie, Blanche Mackie, Milas Wilson Mackie, Jr. and James Wilson Mackie. ARRANGEMENTS BY JAMES A.
