Francesca Grimaldi Obituary

GRIMALDI, Francesca Francesca Louise Boynton Grimaldi died of natural causes on Sunday, December 2, 2007, at the Hospice of Charleston Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the PARKER-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Walterboro, SC, on Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 12 noon, at the Salem United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, SC. Graveside service immediately follows at the Stokes Cemetery in Hendersonville. Francesca was born on May 18, 1919, and grew up in Hendersonville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Louise and Tom Boynton and sister to the late Anderson Boynton, Elizabeth Simmons, and Thomas Boynton. She graduated from N. Augusta H.S. and attended Lander College. During the War, she worked at the Savannah River "bomb plant." She also worked at J.C. Penney in the Catalog Dept. and at St. Francis Hospital in the Admitting Office. Francesca was a wonderful mother and a great cook. Fondly known as "Kecka," she is survived by her daughter, Sandra Boyd of Folly Beach, her twin sons, Tom Scruggs and his wife Sandy of Folly Beach, and Tim Scruggs of Hanahan. She is also survived by six grandchildren, David Boyd and his wife Cindy, Brent Boyd and his wife Currie, Matt Scruggs and his fiancé Emily, Caroline Scruggs, Catherine Scruggs McGann and her husband Ryan, and Carla Scruggs Dicks and her husband Claude, and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests that donations be made to the Hospice of Charleston Center, Inc., at 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Visit our guestbook at www.charleston.net/deaths.

Sandra, Tom & Tim,
I was so sad to hear of your mother's death. She was such a special lady. I always enjoyed seeing her when she would visit with my mama. She had such a positive, happy outlook on life. She made me laugh. Please accept my sincere condolences at this sad time.
