Frances Rhodes Obituary

RHODES, Frances Entered into eternal rest the morning of Monday, January 23, 2006, Frances Fulmer Rhodes, wife of Dr. Theodore Milton Rhodes, Sr. Residence, North Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Theodore M. Rhodes, Sr. are invited to attend the Funeral Service of the latter at North Charleston United Methodist Church, Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at eleven o'clock. Interment will follow in Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill, SC at three o'clock. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, N. Charleston, this Tuesday evening from six until eight o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Charleston United Methodist Church, 1125 East Montague, N. Charleston, SC 29405 Born August 30, 1920 in Saluda, SC, Mrs. Rhodes was the daughter of the late Tally Doyle and Frankie Herlong Fulmer. She was a graduate of Winthrop College (1942) with a degree in Home Economics and was a Paul Harris Fellow, Past President of the Rotary Anns, Past President of the SC Veterinarian Women's Auxiliary, and a Past Member of Nations Bank Board of Directors. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of North Charleston United Methodist Church, President of the Administrative Council, Past President of the UMW , a Circle Member and a Board member of Spartanburg Junior College. Surviving Mrs. Rhodes are her husband, Dr. T.M. (Doc.) Rhodes, Sr. of N. Charleston; two daughters: Frankie R. Watson and husband, Chip of Irmo, SC and Betsy R. Owens and husband, Steve of Summerton, SC; two sons: Theodore Milton Rhodes, Jr. and wife, Mattie of Winston-Salem, NC and Tally Joe Rhodes of Johns Island; a brother: Joe S. Fulmer of Mulberry, Florida; seven grandchildren: Fran Parsons and husband, Joey, Milt Rhodes, III and wife, Karen, Bryan Watson and wife, Cat, Benjamin Rhodes, and wife, Priscilla, Jake Owens, and wife, Jill, Grace Watson and Addrian Rhodes and eight great grandchildren: Jordan Parsons, Hannah Parsons, Abigail Parsons , Mary Kathryn Parsons, Emily Rhodes, Kristen Rhodes, Jack Owens and Abby Owens. Frances was a beautiful woman. She was very loving and very lively. She had a wonderful life and family. She brought a lot of love and laughter to the my life while working at the Bridge. Sheryl and I are very sorry we can't be there with all of you during this time. While we are sad to hear of her passing, we celebrate Aunt Frances' life and are comforted by the love and kindness she gave to all who knew her and the love she is enjoying is God's presence now. What a wonderful mother, aunt, and friend she was to us all. Truly a Great Lady and we are honored to have known her.

Any time Mrs. Rhodes comes to mind, I almost always think back to the early sixties and remember the long telephone cord, the refridgerator with the freezer on the bottom (full of Klondike Bars), and her famous "Squaw Corn" she used to fix for us there at the round table while the cuckoo clock sounded.
