Frances Pittman Obituary

Frances Jean Pittman Mt. Pleasant - Frances Jean (Blanchette) Pittman was born March 24, 1949 in Putnam, Connecticut to Larry and Aline (Johnson) Blanchette, who preceded her in death. Fran attended Putnam High School, transferring to Killingly High her senior year. She enjoyed coming north to attend reunions and catch up with friends from both schools. Fran married Donald "Donn" Pittman on February 14, 1969. She and Donn celebrated 52 years of marriage this past Valentine's Day. They lived in Columbus, Ohio for many years before finally settling in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Fran always enjoyed hosting her northern family from Ohio and Connecticut. She was happy to give her visitors tours of Charleston, walk the beach at Isle of Palms, or picnic in the park under the Ravenel Bridge. Her many nieces and nephews adored her and loved the creative ways she found to make them feel special. Fran had many hobbies, including selling swap meet treasures on eBay and working on the family genealogy. She was a member of the DAR and had traced her maternal side back to the Mayflower. She was working on the Blanchette side as well. She loved connecting with relatives to share old family photographs. While Fran will be missed by all, she will truly be missed by her best friend and partner, Donn. In Donn's words; he was so fortunate to have her in his life. We have all lost one of the most caring, kind, and devoted people. Fran is irreplaceable. Her memorial service will be held Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 3:00 pm at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. A second service, a celebration of life, will be held at a later date. Fran is survived by her husband, Donn, her greatest (and only) sister, Anne Milliard (Jim), nieces, Carrie Blackmar (Richard) and Catherine Bazinet (Rob), great-nieces, Morgan and Lauren Blackmar, great-niece and nephew, Iris and Asa Bazinet, and so many more cousins and nieces and nephews, all of whom she truly loved. In lieu of flowers, Fran would want to be remembered with donations made to any local food bank. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com. Donn: So sorry about Fran's passing. We had good times together with the two of you, Sara and I, and the Coulters. Many times, going out to eat and then playing table games. Also, I remember when we went to the beach down there, and Fran had a metal detector. She was so excited to go look for treasure. She didn't find any, but enjoyed the quest.

I am so sorry. May the concern and support of friends as well as cherished memories help sustain you at this time. When it was my turn a friend sent me a condolence card that said “In the still, quiet moments you can still feel the love.”

Donn.
I'm so sorry for your loss. You were one of my trainers back in the 1980's at BDD and although we probably drove you crazy, it sounds like you had someone nice to go home to. I retired from BDD in 2006, so your training took! My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Donn,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I don't know if I can put into words how much Fran's loss has impacted me and so many others who knew her. Fran had such a quick whit and a fantastic sense of humor. She was my YaYa sister and Euchre partner! Boy, the fun we had during those times!! I enjoyed going to estate sales with Fran and Louise and then to lunch to discuss all of our new treasures! I will really miss hoping into the van and all of the laughs we had! Fran was such a kind and thoughtful friend! She was one of the strongest women that I know! Her loss is a major one in my life!
Ted remembered when Fran was new in HR and he called her and disguised his voice and asked her all of these crazy questions about job openings. Fran was very polite and tried so hard to help him. When Louise and I realized it was Ted initiating Fran we quickly let her know that it was all a Ted gag! Oh how Fran laughed!! She also told Ted he'd better watch out because she would get him back! Fran was always prepared for Ted's prank calls!!
I miss you so much Fran my dear dear friend!!

Donn,
I just don't know how to express what a tragic loss Fran's passing has made to mine and so many other's lives. Fran's sharp whit and sense of humor was one of a kind. She was a special friend and my YaYa sister. I had so much fun going to estate sales with her and lunch afterwards discussing all of our new treasures! Fran was so kind but also one of the strongest women that I know!
Ted remembers the first time he called HR and got Fran. He was disguising his voice and asking ridiculous questions. She was so patient with him until Louise and I let her know that it was Ted initiating her to his weird teasing calls. We remembered her laughing so but also warning Ted that she would get him back! Goodbye my dear friend. I will miss you forever!

Donn, I believe I met you once but then only kept track of Cousin Fran through my sister, Ann. It was so wonderful that she lFran was up for a visit at the same time as “Ann’s Walk” and we got to catch up some. We had the love of vintage, a sense of humor and Ann in common but it was her friendship with Ann that I loved most. My deepest sympathy to you.

Dear Donn, although we never had the opportunity to meet Fran, we know she was wonderful to our son Joel. We are so grateful for that, and we know he thought the world of her. He always talked about the holiday celebrations he spent with you, and the warmth of your home. We are sorry for your sudden loss, and we send you our deepest sympathy, love and prayers.
