Frances Condon Obituary

Frances Condon LAKE MONTICELLO, VA - Frances "Sweetie" Dutart Condon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, of Lake Monticello, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in the arms of her loving husband. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 19, 1940. She was the third of six children born to Philip P. Dutart Sr. and Frances Marion Johnson. Predeceasing her are her son Robert William Condon, a grandchild, Annie, sister Burness McCormack and brothers Philip Dutart and James E. Dutart. She grew up in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and was a graduate of William Moultrie High School. Shortly after her birth, and while a small child, her mother called her Sweetie and the name stuck throughout her childhood and all of her adult life. She was a sweetie in every way. She married her childhood sweetheart, Navy Captain John Robert Condon. Sweetie worked alongside of him through college and a successful Navy career. She was a totally devoted wife, mother and supportive companion. The wind beneath our wings, the quintessential angel on earth, Sweetie never met a stranger and was comfortable in any company. She would tell any new friend, just call me Sweetie. Soon all who were fortunate enough to call her friend found it easy, for that was who she was. In addition to her husband of 56 years, John Condon, other survivors include her daughter Frances Condon Furst and son-in-law Mike, grandchildren Bob, Natasha and Bill, sisters Mary Ann Silver, Georgette Livingston, sisters-in-law Dorothy L. Condon, Robin A. Condon and Mary Anne Lehmann. Sweetie was born into the Episcopalian faith, and was a lifelong member of the South Carolina French Huguenot Society, and joined her husband in the Catholic faith soon after their marriage at Stella Maris Catholic Church on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina. Sweetie was a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Palmyra, Virginia. Sweetie is now reunited with her beloved son Bill, who was killed in a tragic accident in 1980 at the age of fifteen. She never lost her faith. Bill has reached down from Heaven and pulled his Mom to him, always protective of her. He will carry her with him to rest in peace in the loving arms of God. Sweetie is able to be truly happy again. A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00am on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Saints Peter and Paul Church with Father Gerald Musuubire officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at a later date, next to their son Bill; her ashes will be comingled with those of her husband eventually, at Colonial Grove Cemetery in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lake Monticello Rescue Squad, 10 Slice Road, Palmyra, VA 22963 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
