Floyd Mann Obituary

MANN, Floyd Floyd Arnold Mann passed away June 24, 2006 at Heartland of West Ashley in Charleston. He was born in Paintsville, KY on Thursday, May 5, 1932 and was the only surviving child of Tot Allen Mann and Floyd Clifton Mann. During his childhood the family resided in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Mr. Mann attended the Hill School in Pottstown, PA and the Upper Canada College in Toronto, as well as the University of Kentucky. In 1955 he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from George Washington University of Law in Washington, D.C. While attending law school, he was an assistant to Carl Perkins, U.S. House of Representatives. After graduation he served in the Judge Advocate General's Office of the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. In December of 1997, after 38 years of service, he retired as Vice President of Chicago Title Insurance Company, New York, NY. During his career he held various positions within land title associations. As residents of Sleepy Hollow, NY the family relocated to South Carolina upon his retirement. He was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association for fifty years and was recently honored as a Senior Counselor. Mr. Mann is survived by his devoted wife, Rita M. Mann and a daughter, Laura Elizabeth Mann of Hollywood. Please make memorial contributions to the John Ancrum S.P.C.A. in his memory.
