HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Florence was born April 7, 1923, in Hoboken, New Jersey, daughter of Rose Chayet Genet and Harry Genet. She was a graduate of the University of Miami. She was a longtime member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue and a founding member of Synagogue Emanu-El. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Irving, Martin and Saul Genet. Dear Neda, Alan, Harriet and Marvin,
Your mom, my Aunt Florence, was a special person. We shared many laughs together while she detailed precious, Genet family history.
One of my favorite memories occurred when taking her on a tour of the Charleston Harbor two summers ago. She sat on the deck of the boat, marveling at the impressive coastline as if she were taking it all in for the first time. This was her Charleston and she was beaming with pride.
With love,
Amy Genet

I had many hearty laughs with my Aunt. That includes the time we opened up her freezer only to see there was more frozen food in there than there was cold air. She just wanted to make sure she had ample food to eat.
Two summers ago my husband and I took her for a 90 minute Charleston Harbor Boat tour. Amid sweltering heat on deck Aunt Florence refused to seek the air conditioned comfort inside of the boat. Indeed she was awed by the familiar and unfamiliar landmarks on the river. It was as if she was viewing her city again in fresh light.
Her death marks the end of a distinguished generation.
Condolences to my cousins Neda, Alan, Harriet and Marvin.
Love,
Amy Genet and Jonathan Rubins

Neda, Harriet, Alan and Marvin,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I have fond memories of having Saturday breakfast at your house eating hard-boiled eggs and thick slices of challah with butter on paper plates with toothpicks. It was always a treat to stay at your house and your Mom was a lovely Jewish influence on my life. Your children and grandchildren are very lucky to have had your Mom in their lives.
Love,
Emily Tanenbaum
