Florence Fishburne Obituary

FISHBURNE, Florence WALTERBORO - Mrs. Florence Barnwell Dargan Fishburne, widow of Lucius Gaston "Boots" Fishburne of Gracefield Plantation, died peacefully at her home Tuesday after a long period of declining health. She was 93. Born in Florence, she lived in Walterboro since 1939. She was a former board member of the South Carolina Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, and was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames, St. Jude's Episcopal Church, and the Cotillion Club of Walterboro. Mrs. Fishburne was also a member of the St. Cecilia Society of Charleston and the Centurion Club of Columbia. She is survived by four children, Dargan Fishburne of Walterboro, Patti Gage Workman (W.D.) of Bluffton, Lucius G. Fishburne, Jr. of Pawley's Island and John Barnwell Fishburne of Walterboro. There is one sister, Ida "Pet" McMaster (John Gregg) of Columbia; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and her two devoted caregivers, Thelma Huger and Pearline Davis. Funeral services will be held privately at the family cemetery on the grounds of Gracefield Plantation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Jude's Epsicopal Church, 907 Wichman Street, Walterboro, SC 29488.
