Florence Cone Obituary

Florence Messervy Cone SUMMERVILLE - Florence Joyce Messervy Cone, 89, of Summerville, wife of Joseph M. Cone, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at her home surrounded by her beloved family. Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 3 pm in the Chapel at James A. Dyal Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Boone Hill UMC cemetery. A visitation will start at 2 pm, one hour prior to the service. She was born May 4, 1934, in Summerville, daughter of the late Eva Perry Messervy Knight and Wilkie Tilden Messervy. She devoted her life to her family and to the family business, Cone and Sons Logging, and she was a member of Summerville Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband and five children: Joyce Cone Lemacks of Hanahan, Johnny Cone of Round O, Janet Cone of Asheville, Jeff Cone of Summerville, and Jennifer Cone-Craven (Kenny) of Summerville; three grandchildren: Samantha Cowart of Daniel Island, Ashley Cowart of Hanahan, and Stacey Craven (Stephen) of Summerville; one great-granddaughter, Ella Grace and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Joseph Cone, Jr.; her stepfather, Olfon Knight; and six siblings: Mary Messervy, Helen Alberghini, Wilkie Messervy, Dorothy Slaydon, Horace Messervy, and Carl Knight. Special thanks to her Intrepid caregivers and Shauna Gould and all those who offered their love and support to her and the family. Pallbearers will be Mark Cone, Milton Cone, Alex Craven, Brian Mickalis, Phillip Varner, and Paul Walsh.
