Ferdinando Sica Obituary
Ferdinando "Fred" Sica passed away peacefully on May 24th with his family by his side. Born in the Bronx on May 30th 1922 to Anselmo and Frances Sica. Fred served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He married Theresa Rosica on May 25th 1947. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage. Fred owned a painting contracting business, "Sica Painting Corp" for many years. Fred was an active Charter Member of the Blauvelt Order Sons of Italy Lodge, 2176 Blauvelt, New York where he enjoyed playing pinochle with his lodge brothers. He will be remembered for his great smile and good humor. For many yearts he was an avid bowler in several leagues and won many trophies. He is survied by his loving wife of 64 years, Theresa, daughter Susan Leale of Orangeburg, NY, son Richard (Noreen) of River Vale, NJ and daughter Francine Crowe (Thomas) of Pearl River, NY and five loving Grandchildren, Sal Leale (Janet) Warwick, NY, Suzanne Leale (Lisa Kisner) Monroe, NY, Kimberly LaSpada (Anthony) Hoboken, NJ, Christina Crowe and Cara Crowe, Pearl River, NY and three Great Grandchildren, Jake, Madison and Luke Leale. "Poppy" was very devoted to his family and left them with many good memories. Family will receive visitors on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7 - 9 pm at the "Family Owned" Joseph W. Sorce F. H. inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday May 27, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Catharine's Church, Blauvelt, NY. Internment in the Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Fred's memory to the Rockland Lodge #2176 Scholarship Fund, Blauvelt, NY 10913
