Fargo Ehlert Obituary

Fargo D. Ehlert, 90, of Missouri Valley, passed away Jan. 21 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

Memorial service was held Feb. 10 at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley.

Fargo was born June 3, 1916 in Magnolia to Fred and Jennie (Beebee) Ehlert Jr. Fargo attended school in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School. He farmed, operated the Skelly Tank Wagon for 15 years and retired in 1982 after 12 years with the State of Iowa with the maintenance department. Fargo was married to Vera Johnson, January 31, 1941 in Woodbine. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Fargo loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, watching the New York Yankees play, gardening, feeding his birds and squirrels, and watching his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. Vera passed away December 28, 2001.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leslie, Frederick, Hudson and Corrie.

Survivors include son Gary and partner Robert Haines of Missouri Valley, daughter Ann Green and companion Herb Gillman of Council Bluffs, Kristi and husband Chris McDonald of Neola, Kelly Gillman of Austin, Texas, Shannon Ehlert of Valley Village, Calif., Shawna and husband Von Abston of Beverly Hills, Calif.; great grandchildren Jordan and Jadynn McDonald of Neola; sister Loie and husband Merril McElwain of Woodbine; sister-in-law Helen Ehlert and Edna Ehlert of Woodbine; brothers-in-law Virgil Johnson of Woodbine, Harold Johnson and wife Ruth of Dunlap; sister-in-law Loretta Johnson of Oklahoma City, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Methodist Church or the Omaha Audubon Society.
