Evelyn LaBruce Obituary

LaBRUCE, Evelyn GEORGETOWN - Evelyn LaBruce died Friday, September 15, 2006, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. LaBruce was born in Florence, the daughter of the late Arthur M. LaBruce and Julia Gant LaBruce. She grew up in Georgetown and Pawleys Island and was a graduate of Winyah High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in Fine Arts. Mrs. LaBruce was also a student at the University Mozarteum Salzburg in Austria. She was a successful opera singer throughout Europe for 11 years. Mrs. LaBruce spent the rest of her career as a full Professor of Voice in the Fine Arts Department at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee as well as continuing her active performance career. She was the widow of Jack Victor Waldheim. Surviving are: her daughter, Michele LaBruce and her husband Adam; a brother, Dr. Arthur M. LaBruce and his wife Carolyn of Mt. Pleasant; and three grandchildren, Lahvie, Caleb, and Julia. A worship service will be eleven o'clock, Monday morning, September 25, 2006, at All Saints Church in Pawleys Island.
