Evelyn Gruber Obituary

Evelyn Gruber ROUND O - Evelyn Fralix Gruber of 19402 Augusta Hwy., 86 years and 3 months of age, wife of 64 years of the late Leroy H. Gruber, died at home Thursday, April 14, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon, Sunday, April 17, at the chapel of the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerome Hodge and Rev. Dr. David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Gruber Cemetery, Hwy. 61, Round O. Mrs. Gruber was born January 14, 1925, in Dorchester County, SC, a daughter of the late Wesley B. and Bessie Mae Infinger Fralix. She and her husband were owners-operators of Gruber's Grocery at Gruber's Crossroads on Hwy. 61 for thirty years. She was among the first Adult Graduating Class of 1983, held at the Colleton County High School, Mighty Cougar Drive, Walterboro. She was a beloved member of Maple Cane Baptist Church. Mrs. Gruber will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are a son, Mitchell Gruber and his wife Betty Ann, of Round O; a daughter, Valaree Howard and her husband Elmer, of Round O; one sister, Grace Fralix Hoover, of Irmo; fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; a son, Walton Gruber; and two daughters, Anne C. Bridge and Jeannine Craven.
