Evelyn Asbury Obituary

Evelyn Virginia Asbury N. CHARLESTON - Evelyn Virginia Asbury, age 87, of North Charleston SC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 18th 2011 at her residence. She was born in Dante, VA to the late Clyde C. Carty and Orpha Ring Carty. She was a dutiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. While Evelyn was raising her family, she was a talented cook who enjoyed preparing new recipes for her children and husband. Evelyn loved taking care of her home and family. She cherished afternoon walks with her husband, Douglas. She had been an active member of Cooper River Baptist Church, North Charleston, and had fond memories of attending her Sunday School class. Mrs. Asbury is survived by her daughters: Barbara Petty of Charlotte NC , Sharon Siweck of Tucson AZ, and Marsha A. Ferira of Charleston SC; grandchildren: Justin B. Ferira, Dr. Ashley Jordan Ferira, Tammy Garrett (Cecil), Chris Petty (Noel), and Rodney Petty (Jennifer); great grandchildren: Jessica McMasters (Tim), Ashleigh Garrett, Parker Garrett, Quinn Petty, Abigail Petty, Logan Petty, Joseph Petty, and Noah Petty; great great grandchildren: Micah and Sullivan McMasters; surviving sister: Nancy Corbett. She was preceded in death by her husband: Douglas Gene Asbury; brothers: Everett, Willie Ott, and Jack; sisters: Elizabeth, Lois, and Shirley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 22nd 2011 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC 29406, Reverend Gary Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston. Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Thursday, December 22nd at the funeral home.
