Eve Cousar Obituary

Eve Cousar MANNING, SC - Eve Witherspoon Blackwell Cousar, 73, widow of William Douglas Cousar, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. Born December 26, 1938, in Mayesville, she was the daughter of the late John Albertus Blackwell and the late Elizabeth Witherspoon Blackwell. She was a graduate of Lynchburg High School and Columbia College. She spent most of her adult life in Manning, where she was a loving mother and wife. She was a charter member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities. She was also a worker in the "Care Givers Morning Out Program" and the "Meals on Wheels Program" and a charter member of the Clarendon Pilot Club. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Cousar Benefield and husband Douglas Glass Benefield of Mt. Pleasant; her son, Michael Durden Cousar and wife Carrie Davis Cousar of Anderson; her sister, Sandra Blackwell Goza; her sister-in-law, Sidney Phillips Blackwell; and seven grandchildren, Ben Carnell, John Carnell, Eva Benefield, Davis Cousar, Anne Douglas Cousar, Caroline Cousar and Ella Cate Cousar. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Walton Blackwell and Benjamin Carson Blackwell. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manning with Revs. Charles C. Tyler and Ray Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Sardinia-Gable Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Witherspoon, Steve Witherspoon, Billy Cooper, Joe Witherspoon, Ben Carnell, John Carnell, Davis Cousar, Sammy Plowden, Henry Goza and Ollen Rose. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the fellowship hall of New Covenant Presbyterian Church.
