Mr. Eulon Cole Richardson of Crumpler passed away Monday afternoon, July 15, 2013 at Watauga Medical Center. He was 77.
Mr. Richardson was born in Wilkes County on Saturday, Dec. 7, 1935, to the late Thomas Henry and Ella Sturgill Richardson.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from National Guard Army Reserve. He served in Desert Storm. He retired from National Linen Company after 33 years. He was a member of Bristol Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Tommie Sue Wallace.
In his early years, Eulon enjoyed coaching little league baseball and helping coach in the high school. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, of 57 years of marriage, Wilma Jean May Richardson; two sons, Tim Richardson and wife, Sharon, of West Jefferson and Keith Richardson, better known as "P.Y." of Statesville; two daughters, Jan Hamby and husband, Dennis, of Crumpler and Sheila James and husband, Dennis, of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Elliott and husband, Randy, of Greensboro, Chris Hamby and wife, Maria, of Jefferson, Megan Hamby, of Boone, Kayla Richardson Hill and husband, Adam, of Boone and Cody James, of Taylorsville; three great-grandchildren, Annie Elliott, Sam Elliott and Olivia Hamby; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Bristol Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins, Rev. Tim Roten and Rev. John Elledge officiating. Burial followed in Wallace Cemetery with full military rites.
