Eugenia Weil Obituary

Eugenia "Jeanne" Scott Elliott Weil CHARLESTON - Eugenia "Jeanne" Scott Elliott Weil, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Her memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends Monday, May 22, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Jeanne, the daughter of the late Rutledge Holmes Elliott and the late Frances Witherspoon Brown Elliott was born January 13, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina. She grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina and graduated from Beaufort High School. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, Jeanne settled in Charleston. Jeanne's passions were southern history and her family. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Order of Confederate Rose, Daughters of the Confederacy, the South Carolina Ladies Auxiliary, and The Civil War Round Table. Jeanne was a talented seamstress and will be remembered for the beautiful period dresses she made for the Confederate Veterans reenactments. She also found great joy in volunteering her time with the Friends of the Hunley. She enjoyed meeting visitors from all over and sharing her knowledge of Civil War history and ancestry. Her love of history was not only evidenced by her above works but also for the time she devoted to her family. She was the family historian, spending numerous hours researching ancestry and could answer any question you had. Jeanne's greatest love was her two sons, Howard and Robert. Whenever they were around, she smiled brighter. Growing up, their house was the central meeting place for friends to gather and everyone was always welcome. She was a second mom to many. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Jeanne was a dedicated mother, grandmother and friend who made everyone around her feel appreciated and special. Jeanne is survived by her two sons, Julius Howard Weil III (Katie) of Charleston, SC; Robert Scott Weil (Becca) of Mount Pleasant, SC; her three grandchildren, Thomas E. Weil, Sarah H. Weil, Scott P. Weil; her sister, Frances Rutledge Elliott of Walterboro, SC; her niece, Rutledge Elliott Carter (Scott) of Charleston, SC; her granddogs, Gunny, Bindi, Daisy and Lilly; and her grandcats, Cody, Pickles and Squeazle. Memorials may be made to Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Rd., Charleston, SC 29412, http://www.pethelpers.org/. or to the Friends of the Hunley, P.O. Box 21600, Charleston, SC 29413, https://www.hunley.org/. Rob/Howard, I was so sad to hear about your Mom passing. I know how close you were and how much she meant to you. She was always good to me and I have so many great memories from 720 N Godfrey!
I pray that God will comfort you both during this tough time.
