Esther Courtney Obituary

Esther Courtney N. Charleston - Esther Courtney, 75, of North Charleston, SC, widow of John B. Courtney, Jr., entered into eternal rest Friday, July 9, 2021. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 12, 2021 at Orange Grove Church, 952 Orange Grove Road at 11:30 am. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Rivers Avenue, North Charleston. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel. Esther was born July 29, 1945 in Coward, SC, daughter of the late L.O. Lee and Nita Thomas Lee. She loved to sew, had a terrific green thumb and loved to spend time with her flowers and gardening. Esther also loved to go camping with her family. She was a dedicated member of Orange Grove church, where she served as the Clerk and Treasurer. She is survived by four daughters, Pamela (Ben) Slay, Paula (Randy) Hadwin, Phyllis (Mack) Williamson and Kristy (Allen) Still; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Teal; brother, Larry (Dallas) Lee and sister-in-law, Frankie Hicks. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, brother, Willie Lee and a grandson, Samuel Grayson Hadwin.
