My deepest condolences to the family of Ernie....
I met Ernie through a mutual friend and Cancer patient, Eileen Falina...Eileen was helping me navigate my April 25, 1994, breast cancer diagnosis...and treatment, which, in my case included a stem cell transplant.....Ernie and Eileen, were treated by Dr. Nick Ciobanu, in NYC, and I was referred to him for my stem cell proceedure...Ernie changed my life, the day I spoke to him!!!!!In the midst of all the chaos, he showed me that I could conquer this....I will never forget him, he was truly sent by God......

Dear Diane and family, I was so sad to read about Ernie's passing. The photo you posted is exactly how I remember him from the 1980's when I worked with him in Pius XII Youth and Family Services in what was then called the Outreach Program. I will always remember him as an extraordinarily kind man with a great sense of humor and generous spirit. I remember him playing the piano at one of our Pius Christmas parties which that year was at my house. He made the party a real party bringing life and humor to us all. I was always so impressed with him after his cancer diagnosis creating a support group for others suffering with the same condition. He has contributed much to the world. Rest in peace dear one.
I will keep you all in my prayers.

I am so sorry to read about Ernie's passing. We attended JMHCA meetings in Orange County in the 1980s. I recall his enthusiasm and upbeat attitude towards problems. I am not surprised to read that he approached his health issues with such determination and was an inspiration to others. He made the world a better place. My condolences to his family.

We met in the pool four years ago. " My wife says I need to find out what she is doing and do itl. I need exercise because I found out I ha vParkinson. " " Water walking" I tell him. In a few days there he is in the pool. Walking back and forth and by the end of the summer I think he managed about 90 or 1oo back and forth walks. There was determined to do whatever it took to remain healthy. And he did. The boxing was so important I passed the information on to my friend in Ohio. So many lives lives touched by his crusade to help others. I have no doubt part of his mission in life is to help others. His career, he relationship with friends, and above all, his connection with Diane. 'Bill and I only touched his life in a very small way, but there was no doubt is loves for family brought them and him freat joy! He introduced Bill to his grandsons and he told me those grandchildren obviously really felt close to Ernie. Cancer is a killer! Few escape its treacherous grip. So quick, so sudden, so final. He missed the moths of pain and suffering that lie ahead and for that I am grateful. We are blessed by knowing him.

To the Spignardo Family:
I was saddened to read about Ernie's death in the newspaper this morning here in New York. I worked with him for many years while he was employed at Pius XII Youth and Family Services in Orange County, NY. We enjoyed a friendly relationship, and he was dedicated to his work. Many of our colleagues are still in the area and his name comes Up in conversation from time to time. He will be missed. I had heard about his cancer diagnosis, and I'm not surprised he fought the good fight. I hope all the good memories are a source of strength for you during this difficult time. God bless you all.

Mr. Spignardo was my Social Studies teacher at Valley Central High School in 1969-70 as I recall. He was a great teacher and role model and when I think of it now, so young! It saddens me to recall how much I enjoyed his classes; his passing means a wonderful teacher and mentor is gone.
His family must miss him greatly. I am so sorry you no longer have him with you.
